The standard car pans are about 2" deep and take 4-1/2 quarts for a service. The truck/HD pans are about 3" deep and take an extra 2 quarts. Made for the shallow pan, but could easily be modified to fit a deep pan. You can see the pic is from the top of the filter. The main filter body fits in between the case and the VB, and the half moon shape is the suction.

Iff you have to remove trans , make sure the stator splines (fixed spline on ft -part of pump) are blued-heat treated. If not, replace pump with hardened spline version. That spline would wear on the early units. New paint -near complete.
